From coffee cups in Westeros to fake babies, these are 18 of the biggest TV and movie mistakes in the last decade

  • There were many mistakes this past decade that slipped through the cracks and made it onto the big and small screen, taking people out of the fantasy.
  • Some of the most talked about moments included a coffee cup in the final season of "Game of Thrones" and a weird fight scene with Henry Cavill in "Mission: Impossible — Fallout."
  • We took a look at 18 of the biggest blunders from the 2010s and explain why they were so unfortunate.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

Following is a transcript of the video.

Narrator: From stray coffee cups in Westeros to Bradley Cooper's fake baby, things don't always go as planned when filming a TV show or movie.

There have been numerous mistakes in the past decade that slipped through the cracks and made it onto the big and small screen. Here are 18 of the biggest blunders of the 2010s.

In 2019, HBO aired the final season of "Game of Thrones," and while fans weren't exactly happy with how everything turned out with the rushed plot, there was also a major gaffe that managed to throw viewers completely out of the fantasy. In this scene, a coffee cup from craft services was accidentally left in the final cut. It's clearly visible on the table next to Daenerys, and, as far as we know, there were no baristas at Winterfell.

The cup was later edited out of the shot.

After the coffee-cup debacle, no one would have expected yet another mistake in the final season of "Game of Thrones." In one of the most important and highly anticipated scenes of the series, the leaders of Westeros were choosing who would take the throne.

Edmure Tully: I suppose this is the most important moment of our lives.

Narrator: Unfortunately, someone on the cast or crew left some water bottles in a few of the shots, turning the serious moment into a bit of a joke.

There's a heartwarming moment in "American Sniper" that quickly turns laughable. In this scene, Bradley Cooper has returned from war and is picking up his child. But since director Clint Eastwood thought using a real baby would be too unpredictable, they decided to use a doll instead. And it's painfully obvious, especially when Cooper is seen moving the baby's arm with his finger.

The events in season five of "Breaking Bad" are set in 2009 and 2010, but one of the characters can apparently see into the future. In this scene, Todd's uncle references the raid and death of Osama bin Laden.

Jack Welker: Whacking bin Laden wasn't this complicated.

Narrator: Which didn't actually happen until a year later, in 2011.

In "The Dark Knight Rises," the sun seemingly sets super early. The stock market heist scene takes place soon after the opening bell, and it's clearly light outside. But soon after, there's a car chase, and when they all emerge from the tunnel, it's pitch black. Dark "night" rises, indeed.

But that wasn't the only mistake in the film.

Typos happen all the time, but the copy editor at The Gotham Times probably lost their job over this one. In the main headline on the front page, heist is spelled wrong.

In this scene, Rachel McAdams' character is writing down notes from her conversation with one of the abuse victims at a diner. The camera cuts to the notebook several times, and while she seems to fill up the page, a few shots later it's nearly blank. Maybe it's disappearing ink?

During the final battle scene in "The Avengers," there's a lot going on, so it's not that surprising that there would be a few continuity errors here. In this scene, the front of a car is clearly dented and beaten up, but after Thor lands on the ground, the car has miraculously turned to perfect condition. A blessing from the gods.

There's another continuity error in the final battle. Here, we see Captain America is shot in the stomach, and his suit is torn and damaged. A few minutes later, however, it's back to normal. Guess Captain America is also a pretty good seamstress.

Elsa belting out "Let it Go" is one of the more memorable scenes in "Frozen," but no matter how many times you've watched it, you may not have noticed this one pretty bizarre error. In this scene, after she lets down her hair, she swings around and her braid appears to magically pass right through her arm.

"Suicide Squad" wasn't exactly flawless, but there was one scene in the film that makes absolutely no sense. In this scene, the characters are all putting on their costumes, but Harley Quinn's transformation is a bit more drastic than the others'. Somehow, she manages to get a haircut and dye her hair seconds after she puts on her outfit.

Rick Flag: Seriously, what the h---'s wrong with you people?

Narrator: While technically not in the show, this promotional image for "Downton Abbey" made headlines for something fans spotted in the background. Can you find it? Yes, like "Game of Thrones," there's a plastic water bottle in the shot, sitting right there on the mantle.

You may have been too teary-eyed at the sight of all the Avengers assembling to notice this one. In this scene, we clearly see Thanos destroy Captain America's shield. It's cracked in half. But soon after, when the camera pans out at the portals opening, the shield is back to its original state. If only we could snap our fingers and do the same for Iron Man.

Henry Cavill is known as Superman, but he appears to also have superpowers in his role as agent August Walker in "Mission: Impossible - Fallout." In this scene, Cavill's beard quickly grows while he's punching. As if that wasn't bad enough, a pocket also appears on his dress shirt.

In the world of "The Walking Dead," physics apparently don't apply. In season five, Daryl and Carol are trapped in a van that's teetering on the edge of an overpass. Eventually, the van falls and flips forward, but somehow, it lands on its wheels seconds later.

Before the coffee cup and water bottle, there was another error in "Game of Thrones" that had people scratching their heads. In season six, we learned Melisandre turns into an old woman when she takes off her necklace, but in season four, there's a scene with her in a bathtub, sans necklace, and yet she's still young and beautiful.

While demogorgons and strange young girls with telekinesis aren't very realistic, there's one mistake the production team on "Stranger Things" made with the props. Throughout season one, the kids are using realistic TRC-214 walkie-talkies to communicate with each other. The only problem is that these didn't actually exist until about two years later, in 1985.

While there's certainly a lot of time-hopping in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one jump in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" seemed to mess everything up. The movie's supposed to be set eight years after "The Avengers," which was set in 2012, hence "Homecoming" takes place in 2020, but that doesn't line up with the rest of the films, like "Avengers: Infinity War," which was set in 2018. So the entire timeline would get shifted, making the dates the heroes jump back to in "Endgame" incorrect.

Director Joe Russo eventually admitted that this "8 years later" title card was "incorrect" during a press interview.

Were there any other big mistakes you noticed in the past decade? Let us know in the comments.

An abandoned 'Avengers: Infinity War' scene had the heroes fighting versions of themselves

"Avengers: Infinity War" could have featured the Marvel superheroes going up against versions of themselves.

In an interview with Vanity Fair's Anthony Breznican, "Infinity War" and "Endgame" screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recount one of many alternate sequences in "Infinity War" that would have showed the heroes in a parallel world to their own.

"There was a sequence in the first movie where they went into the places in the 'Doctor Strange' universe called the Mindscape and everyone faces themselves," said Markus.

There's a scene in the 2016 movie where the Ancient One sends Strange through a number of dimensions. It sounds like the Avengers would have entered this.

Doctor Strange mystical Marvel

"Banner meets the Hulk, I think in the arena from '[Thor] Ragnarok.' Only one of them was getting out of there, and then that one showed up in Wakanda."

Why didn't we see it in the final movie?

"It was great but had absolutely nothing to do with anything," said Markus.

It sounds like we were better off with the version of "Infinity War" that made it to theaters.

The sequence does sound a bit wacky and bloated if it would have revisited another Marvel movie. The version of the film Markus and McFeely described would have had the Hulk emerge as Smart Hulk by the end of his battle. That's something we've heard before that was scrapped and revisited at the start of "Endgame."

Maybe we'll see the Avengers fight versions of themselves somewhere in the future.

These are the 16 hottest toys every kid will want this holiday

  • From the New York Toy Fair to the TTPM's (Toys, tots, pets, and more) holiday showcase, I looked at and previewed hundreds of toys throughout the year.
  • The unboxing trend is even bigger this year with the popularity of last year's L.O.L. Surprise dolls and more variations on the Hatchimals brand.
  • From "Avengers: Endgame" figures to singing dolls from "Frozen 2," keep reading to see what kids will want this holiday.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

L.O.L. Surprise is still one of the most sought-after toys and this year it's bigger than before with a 2-in-1 glamper.

If you're not familiar with L.O.L. Surprise, it was one of the biggest toys of 2018, too. Typically, they come in small capsules to reveal small dolls with clothing and accessories. The toy is all about the unboxing experience with everything ornately wrapped in individual packaging.

The L.O.L. Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper comes with over 55 surprises for kids to open. The bus unpacks to become three feet wide and two-feet tall. Kids will spend a lot of time just unpackaging and exploring every nook and cranny the extended bus has to offer. If you're looking for a more affordable alternative to the Barbie dreamhouse, this is the way to go as the glamper has bunk beds, a bathroom, a pool that lights up, and more.

Any kid who has seen "Avengers: Endgame" is going to want their own Infinity Gauntlet.

Out of everything you could have from "Avengers: Endgame," this is it. Who doesn't want to pretend to be Bruce Banner or Tony Stark and save the world from Thanos? You can press the Infinity stone in the center for the gauntlet to light up and make sounds.

If you're an adult, or want something more realistic, you can get a more detailed, wearable version for yourself for $70.

Price: $19.99
Ages: 5 and up
Where to find it:Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy

You can't have an Infinity Gauntlet without the actual Avengers.

If you're playing out scenes from the highest-grossing movie of all time, you're going to need the characters that were in the film.

Hasbro's Legends series figures are a little pricier, but I think they look more authentic and accurate to the characters than some of the other larger figures available for kids. If a child is younger, you can always hold onto some of the smaller pieces so they can just play with the action figure.

The downside: You can't purchase Bro Thor or Hulk by themselves. You need to buy six other figures, including Iron Man and Captain America to build Bro Thor. You have to buy another seven to build Hulk from "Endgame."

ShopDisney has an alternative, more affordable set, with 20 of the "Endgame" characters for $40. The downside is that they're not poseable.

Hasbro's Anna and Elsa dolls sing two of the new songs from "Frozen 2."

"Frozen 2" is definitely going to be popular after having the best opening for an animated movie in November. If you can't get some of the sequel's songs out of your head, each of these dolls sings 30-second clips from new songs in the Disney animated feature.

The Elsa doll sings part of "Into the Unknown," while Anna sings "The Next Right Thing." The dolls also light up as they sing and have removable boots. Unfortunately, they're sold separately.

Price: $19.99
Ages: 3+

The $200 Ultimate Arendelle Castle is five feet tall and is anticipated to be one of the most popular toys this holiday.

The new "Frozen 2" castle has seven rooms, including a throne room with a moving carpet, a music room, kitchen, and 14 accessories ranging from a vanity to a piano. Olaf has his own little tower at the top.

The castle was predicted to be one of the most sought-after toys this holiday season at the TTPM showcase I attended in September.

Hatchimals' hatching Toothless is something any "How to Train Your Dragon" fan will want.

The miniature Toothless was one of the cutest things I saw at Toy Fair in February and small enough to easily tote around.

Kids get to hatch their own baby dragon by hugging or tapping on it until it comes out. Once he breaks out of the shell, the little Toothless makes noises, moves his wings and ears, and his eyes light up. If you hold his belly for a bit, his mouth will glow to give a plasma blast. The little guy also comes with a toy fish you can feed to him.

The Hot Wheels Colossal Crash track set is the largest track Mattel has released.

The five-foot wide playset lets you race multiple cars at the same time on a figure eight track. The playset comes with two cars which you can send along the motorized track. You can continue adding more cars to inevitably crash or you can try and master timing them so the cars cruise around the track, making for a mesmerizing spectacle. Little levers on the track let you send the cars flying into the air.

If you're worried about the large size, I saw a demonstration of how easily it can fold up for storage.

Price: $89
Ages: 5-10

Cool Maker's Go Glam Nail Stamper provides an inexpensive way for kids to do their own home manicures.

I was asked to try out the Go Glam Nail Stamper at the New York Toy Fair in February and was impressed by how quickly and easily we were able to stamp a design onto my hands.

I put my finger in a little machine, a stamper button was pushed, and just like that, there was a design on my nail. The stickers stayed well on your nails. I didn't have any issue with it chipping or fading away. For the price, you're able to decorate 125 nails with five different designs. That's a little over 12 manicures in total if you're decorating each nail. This is the perfect item if you're having a group of kids over for a play date.

You should be aware that you can only stamp your nails if you use the nail polish included with the kit. I've seen kits come with blue, purple, and pink polish.

Forky was one of the break-out stars of "Toy Story 4."

If you head into any retail store, you'll find a lot of "Toy Story 4" merchandise, but you may have a tougher time finding as many Forky action figures on shelves.

There are a few different talking versions of the popular spork, but I think the most movie-accurate one with multiple phrases is shopDisney's interactive figure. He says 12 different phrases and his little stick figure feet move up and down when you wheel him around. The coolest feature is that if you have other shopDisney "Toy Story" figures, he'll interact with them. Kids will think Woody and Forky or other characters are having real conversations.

If you're looking for a Forky with even more phrases, Target is selling a $40 version of the spork that has over 35 phrases and dances.

Barbie takes to the skies this year in her own plane.

I feel like I see a new Barbie Dreamhouse every year and they're all pretty similar. There's some sort of pool and an elevator that goes up and down throughout the house. If it's not a house, then Barbie usually has a cool car or RV.

This year, I was excited to find that Barbie received a massive upgrade in the form of her own jet. There's enough room for her and a friend and another seat for a pilot in the cockpit. The love is in the details here as there are overhead compartments for luggage and a snack cart that has little trays and food items. The set even comes with a puppy to bring on board because pets should also get to travel first class with Barbie.

The best part is that the Barbie Dreamplane playset is much more affordable than any Dreamhouse.

You have to water this toy in order to reveal your Blume doll.

Everyone wants to have the next hot unboxing experience and Skyrocket offers a fun one with Blume. Upon first glance, it looks like a potted plant. The trick is to water the top of the plant with a water can provided. In seconds, a doll will rise up out of the canister. The pot itself opens up to reveal a playset for one of 22 different dolls.

The Nerf Ultra is super easy to use and can shoot darts over 100 feet.

I have fired many Nerf blasters in my day. I'm not always particularly great with my aim, but none of them was easier for me to fire than the Nerf Ultra One which purrs as you pull the trigger back and a the motorized blaster seamlessly fires nerf dart after nerf dart after nerf dart at your intended target.

If you're looking for distance, I was told the Ultra sends the soft darts up to 120 feet, which is farther than any previous Nerf blaster. For a large-sized blaster, I was equally surprised this one doesn't cost a bit more. If you're looking for fire power and something that shoots far, the Ultra will do.

WowWee has the Baby Shark plush you're looking for.

Personally, I thought we were past the Baby Shark phase, but every toy convention I went to this year featured WowWee's adorable little shark crew that comes in three colors. (The mom is pink, the dad is blue, and the baby is yellow.)

If your little one is obsessed with the Baby Shark song, you better believe this trio sings the catchy song.

My Partner Pikachu will give kids their own Pokemon companion.

If you've ever wanted your own miniature Pikachu, this is for you. My Partner Pikachu reacts to your touch with sounds, movements, and lightning sounds. Pikachu's tail and cheeks also light up.

Wicked Cool Toys claims he has over 100 different reactions, but a lot of them sounded pretty similar to me. Still, I found Pikachu made for a delightful role-playing toy for kids who want to act out Pokémon quests. The little pocket monster is pretty tiny to carry around to bring on the go. If you get tired of hearing cries of "Pika Pika," there's a simple off switch to give the Pokémon (and mom and dad) a rest.

Price: $19.99
Ages: 4 and up

"Paw Patrol" has a new lookout tower with real sounds from the TV show.

Nickelodeon's "Paw Patrol" remains very popular with young children. I've seen firetrucks and playsets dedicated to the dogs the past few years. The newest lookout tower stands two-and-a-half feet tall.

The tower offers plenty of interactive play options for young children — from a garage that shoots out vehicles to a light-up deck. There's a working elevator and buttons that activate real sounds from the show. The main pup, Chase, can slide down a pole that wraps around the tower. The tower also has easy storage for cars in a 360-degree garage that's on the first level.

Price: $70

Whatever Baby Yoda merchandise comes out.

I think we can all agree the late contender for most-wanted toy of the holiday season is any Funko, stuffed animal, or toy of the Baby Yoda character from "The Mandalorian."

Merchandise for the popular "Star Wars" character is supposed to be available at Target, Kohls, Macys, and more soon. Stuffed animals and toys will be available for pre-order in the coming weeks

Chris Hemsworth's wife says they argue about where all of Thor's hammers are placed around their home

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky

Chris Hemsworth's wife, Elsa Pataky, says she has to control her husband from putting Thor's hammers front and center in their home in Australia.

The Spanish actress told the Australian radio show "Fitzy & Wippa" that Hemsworth had taken home a new version of Thor's iconic weapon every time he'd played the character. She said he liked to pick inappropriate places for the props, which she wouldn't allow.

"Yes he always picks the best places in the house, and I'm like, 'It's not going there,'" Pataky said.

"We have five of them from every movie we've done, like, seriously, no."

Thor has two iconic weapons. Mjolnir is the short mallet seen in every Marvel film except during his appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War," where he also takes on the much larger Stormbreaker. Clearly Pataky was at her wit's end when this large movie prop made its way back to their Australian home.

"How funny, so no more hammers?" the radio host Whippa quizzed Pataky, who laughed.

Hemsworth's fourth standalone movie as the Norse god, "Thor: Love and Thunder" starring Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman, is set to be released in theaters November 5, 2021.

10 details you may have missed in the first 'Black Widow' movie trailer

  • Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for "Black Widow" Tuesday morning.
  • In addition to Scarlett Johansson's return as Natasha Romanoff, we met an entire group of Russian friends she knew in her former life.
  • Though the first trailer is action-packed, it may have left you a bit confused over what — and who — you were looking at. If the trailer left you wondering when this movie takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we have you covered.
  • From a tease of Budapest to a quick reference to Black Widow's "Avengers: Infinity War" vest, Insider breaks down the smaller details you may have missed while watching the trailer the first time around.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

It looks like we're finally going to find out what happened in Budapest!

Did you recognize the opening shot of the "Black Widow" trailer? That's a shot of Budapest!

Why is Budapest so important? Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and Clint Barton/Hawkeye have only been discussing some vague event that happened there since the events of 2012's "Avengers" movie.

The duo most recently referenced Budapest during their final trip to Vormir in "Avengers: Endgame." That probably wasn't a coincidence. Are we finally going to learn what exactly went down there? And, if so, can we expect a Hawkeye cameo? We sure hope so.

The train station seen here is also in Budapest. It's the Keleti station.

If you weren't familiar with the station, the little flags for Hungary that line that walls were a big hint.

A young General Ross will appear in the movie.

Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross has been a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since "The Incredible Hulk." We expect to see him to be a part of the Budapest story line. That's Hungarian writing seen on the cargo ship behind him.

The "Black Widow" trailer references a few shots from "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

You weren't having déjà vu. We've seen those flashback scenes with Black Widow revisiting her childhood before. The ballerina scenes were part of a vision Scarlet Witch made Black Widow see during "Age of Ultron" from her past. The main difference between the two versions of scenes is that the ones in the "Black Widow" teaser, seen above, are softer than the ones seen in "Age of Ultron."

Since 2012's "Avengers," we've been getting bits and pieces about Romanoff's mysterious past in flashbacks and pieces of dialogue. You may recall in "Avengers" that Loki name dropped Natasha's supposed father to her, leaving her quite unsettled. We've been waiting to see all of these pieces finally come together.

When does this movie take place? Most likely before "Avengers: Infinity War."

Black Widow's ever-changing hair styles have been helpful in making sense of the MCU timelines.

While it appears we'll revisit Black Widow's past in Budapest, we see her with longer, braided red hair through the majority of the trailer. It's a look the character embraced later on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the "Iron Man" movies and first "Avengers," Natasha's hair was bright red early on until "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War."

It's likely the main timeline of "Black Widow" takes place between "Captain America: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity War." It probably begins not too long after "Civil War" ends. Why?

We know there's a good chunk of time missing between those two movies where Black Widow, Captain America, and more were on the run from Ross and the government. At the end of "Captain America: Civil War," Tony Stark told Ross that Black Widow helped Captain America escape from the government. At the start of "Infinity War," we find that Black Widow has been forced to change her hair length and color while on the run.

From the trailer, it seems like we may see a juxtaposition of Ross hunting down Black Widow after "Civil War" with a previous time in the past when he was chasing her.

The white suit is a nod to a look Black Widow wore in a 2010 comic.

Let's talk about that white suit. Black Widow wore the white suit in 2010's "Deadly Origins" issue No. 2.

Black Widow's white suit was on display at Disney's D23 Expo earlier this summer where Insider got a sneak peek of it in person.

Black Widow refers to this character, Yelena (played by Florence Pugh), as her sister. She's not her actual sister.

That's a simple term the Black Widow trainees used to refer to themselves while training together in the Red Room that's also shown in the trailer. They consider themselves family.

Fans think they've spotted a familiar vest in this scene.

Does the vest on Yelena ring any bells?

Fans think Yelena is wearing the vest Natasha eventually wears in "Avengers: Infinity War."

The color in the trailer looks a little off, but the two sure look similar.

No, that's not Hawkeye. That's a Black Widow villain named Taskmaster.

Taskmaster has been the long-rumored villain of the "Black Widow" movie. In the comics, the character injected himself with a serum that gave him various abilities similar to other Marvel heroes and villains. He's good with a sword (like Black Knight, who's getting his own Marvel series), martial arts (like Shang-Chi), can shoot a bow and arrow (like Hawkeye), and more.

Essentially, he's capable of quickly learning someone's fight strategy to combat and negate their next move.

Who is David Harbour's character anyway? He's Russia's Captain America.

Yes! David Harbour ("Stranger Things") is in this, too. His character, the Red Guardian, is Russia's version of Captain America. That's not even a joke. Thought for dead, Alexei Shostakov became a KGB agent who was trained to become the Soviet version of the American hero.

  • Mark Ruffalo spoke about his most iconic roles in a new video for Vanity Fair and said that his "Avengers" costars made fun of him while wearing his Hulk motion capture or mocap suit.
  • The actor wore a skin-tight outfit containing dots, which enabled cameras to track his movements. Special effects were later used to alter his appearance and bring the green superhero to life.
  • "I have to wear what I call the man-canceling suit, which is this really tight leotard that makes you look big where you want to look small and small where you want to look big," Ruffalo, who's portrayed Bruce Banner/The Hulk since 2012's "The Avengers," said.
  • The "Dark Waters" star went on to say that it "was so humiliating and all the actors, whenever I'd walk on set, would just start laughing at me because they were in their cool superhero costumes and I'm wearing these ridiculous pajamas that made me look like a Chinese checkerboard."
  • He also said that while working on "Avengers: Endgame,"Robert Downey Jr. told Ruffalo that he had " a lot of compassion" for him for wearing the mocap suit for so long.

All the characters in the new 'Black Widow' trailer from Marvel, explained

Every superhero movie you can expect in the 2020s

The 2010s were dominated by superhero movies, especially those from in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there's still plenty more to look forward to in the next decade.

In the 2020s, Marvel, Warner Bros., and more studios will be leasing films based on comic-book characters. In addition to seeing the return of Wonder Woman (portrayed by Gal Gadot) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) in upcoming sequels, characters like Black Adam (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) will make their debut in the coming years. Fans will also get to see Scarlett Johansson finally star in a standalone "Black Widow" film.

Keep reading to see all the superhero movies that are scheduled for release in the 2020s.

"Birds of Prey" (DC) — February 7, 2020

Margot Robbie will kick off the decade by reprising her role as Harley Quinn for "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)" from Warner Bros. The Australian actress played the DC character in 2016's "Suicide Squad," but things will be different this time around.

The first trailer for "BoP," released in October 2019, showed Harley getting a bit of a makeover after breaking up with the Joker (played by Jared Leto in "Suicide Squad"). You can expect her to team up with Black Canary/Dinah Lance (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Huntress/Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) to save a girl from crime lord Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).

Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, and Ali Wong also star in "BoP."

"Bloodshot"— February 21, 2020

Vin Diesel will star as Valiant Comics superhero Bloodshot, a soldier brought back to life with enhanced abilities. You can watch the trailer here

"The New Mutants"— April 3, 2020

The first trailer for the "X-Men" spin-off was released in October 2017, back when the planned release date was April 2018. It teased a dark, horror-driven film directed by Josh Boones and centered on mutants who become trapped in a facility. Following a series of reshoots, 20th Century Fox moved the theatrical date to February 2019, then August 2019.

Now "The New Mutants" is set to hit theaters in April 2020, though people are skeptical that it'll get a big-screen release given the film's continuous production issues and how poorly the latest "X-Men" movie, "Dark Phoenix," performed at the box office

Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, and Alice Braga star in "The New Mutants."

"Black Widow"— May 1, 2020

Ten years after Scarlett Johansson made her debut as Marvel's Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in "Iron Man 2," the actress will finally get a standalone movie set in Budapest and scheduled for release in 2020.

Johansson told Vanity Fair that "Black Widow" is "about self-forgiveness" and "family" while costar Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) described it as "very raw and very painful and very beautiful" during Variety's "Actors on Actors" series

The film will also provide closure for fans, who saw Johansson's character sacrifice herself for the mission in "Avengers: Endgame."

Johansson, Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, and O-T Fagbenle star in the film. You can watch the first teaser trailer here

"Wonder Woman 1984"— June 5, 2020

Patty Jenkins directs the "Wonder Woman" sequel and Gal Gadot returns as the titular character (also known as Diana Prince). They'll be joined by Kristen Wiig, who will play villain Cheetah/Barbara Minerva, and Pedro Pascal, who will portray foe Maxwell Lord. Jenkins also revealed that Chris Pine will return as Steve Trevor, though it's unclear how that's possible since the character sacrificed himself in 2017's "Wonder Woman."

As the film's title suggests, the "Wonder Woman" sequel will be set in the '80s. A photo shared by Gadot showed Wonder Woman looking at several TVs, with one showing Christie Brinkley driving a Ferrari in "National Lampoon's Vacation," which came out in 1983.

Gadot also shared an image of herself in her Wonder Woman costume, which the film's official poster indicates that the character will be rocking a new, metallic suit

"Morbius"— Summer 2020

The upcoming Sony film will star Jared Leto as the titular character, a vampire who appeared as Spider-Man's foe in the Marvel comics. In January 2019, Variety reported that "The Crown" star Matt Smith was in talks to join the movie.

In March 2019, Leto shared a photo of himself on set after completing his first week of filming.

The following month, he posted a video on Instagram and captioned it: "Because no one else will walk this path...this place of shadows, where we do what must be done, no matter the cost. #MORBIUS."

The official Twitter bio for "Morbius" says the film will be released in summer 2020 and it has been speculated that it'll specifically hit theaters on July 31, 2020.

Untitled "Venom 2"— October 2, 2020 (speculated date)

Tom Hardy starred in the first "Venom" movie, which hit theaters in October 2018. Although critics weren't a fan of the standalone film, leading to a 29% score on Rotten Tomatoes, fans enjoyed it enough to land the movie an audience rating of 80%. It also performed well at the box office, raking in more than $800 million.

Filming for Sony's untitled sequel is underway and was confirmed with a black-and-white photo shared by Hardy on Instagram, showing him the makeup chair. The actor later deleted the post

Andy Serkis is set to direct the movie and in addition to Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson will reprise their roles as Anne Weying and Cletus Kasady/Carnage, respectively. Variety also reported that Naomie Harris was in talks to play a villain known as Shriek.

The sequel's release date hasn't been confirmed by Sony yet, but the studio reportedly has an untitled Marvel sequel listed for October 2020. People speculate that the mysterious slot belongs to the next "Venom" movie.

"The Eternals"— November 6, 2020

"The Eternals" marks the second film set to be released as part of Marvel's fourth phase and the movie focuses on a group of immortals who have special skills, like super strength and the ability to fly.

The movie has a star-studded cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, and Brian Tyree Henry. Plus, the film will reunite former "Game of Thrones" costars Richard Madden and Kit Harington.

Photos taken from the set reveal that Jolie will be sporting blonde hair and the actress previously told People that she's doing "everything from swords to ballet" to prepare for her role as an immortal named Thena.

"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"— February 12, 2021

Few details have been revealed about the Marvel movie, but Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and Simu Liu will play the titular character, who was introduced in the comics in 1973. Tony Leung will portray The Mandarin and actress and comedian Awkwafina will also star in the movie, as well. It's unclear who she'll portray.

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness"— May 7, 2021

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will team up for a new movie. Following the 2016 standalone "Doctor Strange" film, the sequel will have a "horror" tone and tie to Scarlet Witch's Disney Plus series, "WandaVision."

At San Diego Comic Con in July 2019, director Scott Derrickson described it as "the first scary MCU film."

"The Batman"— June 25, 2021

Robert Pattinson will follow in the footsteps of Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and more actors when he suits up as Batman for Matt Reeves' upcoming movie "The Batman."

In late May, it was revealed that the "Twilight" star officially signed on to play the Caped Crusader. He'll star alongside Zöe Kravitz (who's playing Catwoman), Paul Dano (the Riddler), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and John Turturro (Carmine Falcone).

Untitled "Spider-Man 3"— July 16, 2021

In August, Tom Holland's future with Marvel was shaken up after Deadline reported that Sony and Disney were unable to reach a financial agreement regarding Spider-Man. But the following month, it was revealed that the studios ended their feud and will be coproducing the upcoming third "Spider-Man" film, which hits theaters in summer 2021.

Based on the big cliffhanger that took place at the end of "Spider-Man: Far From Home," it'll be interesting to see how things play out in the third installment.

"The Suicide Squad"— August 6, 2021

James Gunn will direct the "Suicide Squad" sequel and revealed the star-studded cast in a post shared on social media in September.

Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) will reprise their DC roles. Newcomers to the franchise include Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Storm Reid, John Cena, Pete Davidson, and Peter Capaldi

Gunn also warned that we shouldn't "get too attached," meaning that some characters may get killed off.

"Thor: Love and Thunder"— November 5, 2021

"Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi will return to direct the fourth "Thor" movie. In addition to the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Waititi as Korg,Natalie Portman (as Jane Foster) will be back. She'll have an even bigger role this time around, wielding the hammer to portray a female version of Thor

Jane was last mentioned in "Avengers: Endgame," when Thor revealed that they broke up.

"Black Adam"— December 22, 2021

In November 2019, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed that he'll be portraying DC anti-hero Black Adam in an upcoming film. The actor had been dropping hints for years, and called the role "unlike any other I've ever played in my career."

"He's a rebellious, one of a kind superhero, who'll always do what's right for the people - but he does it his way," Johnson captioned an image of concept art for the character on Instagram. "Truth and justice - the BLACK ADAM way."

Untitled "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" sequel — April 8, 2022

Following the success of the 2018 animated Sony film, another "Spider-Verse" movie will be released in 2022. The news was revealed in November 2019.

"Black Panther 2"— May 6, 2022

At Disney's D23 convention in Anaheim, California in August, it was revealed that a "Black Panther" sequel will be released in 2022

"We're not taking our time, we're really trying to get it right,"Ryan Coogler, who directed the first film and will return for the second movie, said.

Untitled "Aquaman 2"— December 16, 2022

Jason Momoa, who made his debut as the character in "Justice League," will reprise his role as Aquaman for a sequel. It's unclear what the film will center on, but the actor told Esquire that he "came in with a big pitch."

"I came in with the whole thing mapped out, and they loved it," he said.

BONUS: There are more superhero movies in the works, but few details have been revealed.

Tom Holland was drunk when he made a last-ditch plea to Disney's Bob Iger to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Tom Holland on

Tom Holland had been drinking in a pub with his family when Disney CEO Bob Iger called him to discuss the fate of Spider-Man, the actor said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday.

Kimmel explained that last time Iger was on his show, the Disney boss said Holland smoothed over the long-running dispute between Sony and Disney over the use of the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I wouldn't say it was entirely my doing," Holland told the host, before jokingly adding, "I saved Spider-Man!"

Holland said he was devastated when the news broke that negotiations between the two entertainment giants had broken down and that Spider-Man would no longer appear in the MCU.

He asked for Iger's email to thank him for the opportunity and was awaiting a call from the Disney CEO when he went to a local pub in England with his family.

Holland said he was "three pints in" when he got a call from an unknown number, which turned out to be Iger.

Ultimately, the call changed the fate of Spider-Man: Iger said that after talking to Holland, he called Sony to come back to the negotiating table.

Bob Iger Robert Iger NYSE

"It was clear that he cared so much," Iger said of the call with Holland in his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in October.

"He's a great Spider-Man, isn't he?" Iger continued. "I felt for him, and it was clear that the fans wanted all this to happen."

He added that sometimes when companies negotiate, "they kind of forget that there are other folks out there that actually matter."

In September, it was announced that Sony and Disney had reached a deal for Holland's superhero to star in a third MCU "Spider-Man" movie produced by Marvel Studios and its president, Kevin Feige, as well as one other MCU movie.

"I'm glad you got drunk and got on the phone with Bob!" Kimmel told Holland.

Tom Holland said he wasn't allowed to take photos with fellow Marvel stars after news broke that Sony was pulling Spider-Man from the MCU

Tom Holland says he was excluded from group photos with fellow Marvel stars at Disney convention D23 after it was revealed that Spider-Man would be removed from the MCU.

"The news had come out and I was obviously devastated," the 23-year-old "Spies in Disguise" star said during an appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday.

"I was really upset and all my Marvel friends were there and they were taking Marvel pictures and I was not allowed to be in them," Holland, who made his Marvel debut as the webslinger in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War," continued. "It was awful. It was not the best day."

The "Spider-Man: Far From Home" star appeared at the convention in August at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California as part of Walt Disney Studios' presentation for its upcoming movies. Holland will be voicing a character in the upcoming animated film "Onward" alongside Marvel costar Chris Pratt, which Holland was promoting.

There were also appearances from MCU actors Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff) and Paul Bettany (Vision), who star on the new Disney Plus show "WandaVision," and Anthony Mackie (Falcon/Sam Wilson) and Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes), who'll team up for a new show on the streaming service called "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."

In addition, "The Eternals" stars Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Angelina Jolie, and Barry Keoghan made an appearance to promote their film, which hits theaters on November 6, 2020.

"Black Panther 2" director Ryan Coogler was also on hand to talk about the sequel, which comes out on May 6, 2022.

At the time, news had broken that Sony and Marvel were unable to reach a financial agreement regarding Spider-Man. As a result, the Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, wouldn't produce any future "Spider-Man" films and Holland's version of the character wouldn't be able to appear in the MCU.

"It's been a crazy week, but I want to let you know I'm grateful from the bottom of my heart. I love you 3,000," Holland said at the convention, referring to a line from "Avengers: Endgame."

In September, it was revealed that the studios ended their feud and will be coproducing the upcoming third "Spider-Man" film, which hits theaters on July 16, 2021.

During his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live,"Holland said that he "sort of" played a role in returning to the MCU.

The actor explained that he got a call from Disney CEO Bob Iger while drunk at a pub with his family and thanked the executive for giving him the opportunity to be part of the MCU. That led to more phone calls and meetings, and Holland said he "wept" while talking to Iger.

"I was really emotional because I felt like it was all coming to an end," he said. "We had a really good plan with what we were going to do with Sony. The future of Spider-Man was still very bright, but it would have been a shame to take him out of the MCU. That's where he belongs and we built such a strong character in that world and it would have been a shame to lose that."

Trump's team released a video of him as Thanos, the villain who commits genocide in the 'Avengers' movies, and people are puzzled

trump thanos

In the "Avengers" franchise, superheroes struggle to prevent a supervillain from wiping out half of all life in the universe.

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump's team released a video depicting the president as that bad guy: Thanos.

In the video, shared on the Trump War Room Twitter account, which is managed by the Team Trump 2020 campaign, Trump's face is superimposed onto Thanos' body. The hybrid character snaps his fingers to make House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff disappear from existence.

The video came after House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against Trump, charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

After the announcement, Trump on Twitter accused the Democrats of lying. Then came the video.

President Donald Trump

"House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want. President Trump's re-election is inevitable," the video's accompanying tweet said.

Thanos snaps people out of existence

Thanos, a genocidal warlord with a bulbous head and chin, uses a weapon called the infinity gauntlet in the movies "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame."

When Thanos snaps his gauntlet-clad fingers, half of everything in existence dies.

thanos gauntlet

"I am inevitable," Thanos tells Iron Man at the climax of "Avengers: Endgame" before the heroes stop Thanos for good.

Twitter users called out the comparison of Trump to Thanos

Impeachment press conference

Many Twitter users were quick to point out Thanos' evil nature, questioning the choice to compare the president and his reelection campaign to the villain.

Some people brought up how Thanos commits genocide, even murdering his own adopted daughter in his quest for power.

Others noted that Thanos dies at the end of the battle — he doesn't turn out to be the victor.

Plus, Thanos doesn't succeed in making anyone disappear for good, either.

One Twitter user wrote, "Somebody forgot to tell the Trump War Room how 'Avengers: Endgame' ended for Thanos."

Disney Plus was the most Googled term in America this year, beating out 'Game of Thrones' and the iPhone 11 (GOOG, GOOGL, DIS, AAPL)

disney plus

  • Google released data Wednesday revealing its most popular search terms for the year.
  • "Disney Plus" was the most searched term in the United States in 2019.
  • Several celebrity deaths also made the list, including the musician Nipsey Hussle and actors Cameron Boyce and Luke Perry.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

Every year, Google puts out data highlighting what the internet went looking for.

On Wednesday, the company announced the results for 2019, which include a range of topics such as new product launches, celebrity deaths, and major news events.

Read on to discover the 10 terms Americans searched for most on Google this year.

1. Disney Plus

Disney launched its streaming-video service in November, attracting more than 10 million subscribers on its first day. The service includes titles from a range of Disney brands like Pixar, Marvel, and National Geographic.

2. Cameron Boyce

In July, the Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce died at the age of 20 after an epileptic seizure. Boyce was known for his roles in Disney Channel programming like the "Descendants" movie series and the TV show "Jessie."

3. Nipsey Hussle

The Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, was fatally shot outside his clothing store in March. Hussle, who was 33, had quickly amassed fans both for his music and investment in the local community.

4. Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian, which at one point was classified as a Category 5 storm, devastated the Bahamas and threatened the US coastline. President Donald Trump incorrectly said the storm was forecast to hit Alabama.

5. Antonio Brown

The NFL athlete Antonio Brown faced sexual-assault allegations from a former trainer, Brittany Taylor, who brought a lawsuit against him in September. The lawsuit capped off a bizarre year for Brown, who publicly asked to be released from the Oakland Raiders before going to the New England Patriots.

6. Luke Perry

In March, the actor Luke Perry died of a stroke at age 52. Perry was best known for his roles in "Riverdale" and "Beverly Hills 90210," but he starred in numerous shows and movies as early as the 1980s.

7. Avengers Endgame

Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" hit the box office in late April, ultimately passing James Cameron's "Avatar" as the highest-grossing movie of all time — with a catch. After adjusting for inflation, the record is still held by 1939's "Gone With The Wind."

8. Game of Thrones

HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" has become a cultural icon in the past several years. In 2019, the show finished its eighth and final season, which divided many of its fans

9. iPhone 11

In September, Appleunveiled its newest phones: the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The new phones showed just how much the iPhone has evolved since 2007.

10. Jussie Smollett

The "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett became a cultural flashpoint after he told the Chicago police two white men had committed a hate crime against him. The Chicago Police Department charged Smollett with filing a false police report, alleging he staged the incident. Ultimately, the case was dropped, with Smollett agreeing to forfeit the $10,000 he had posted for bail.

The comic book creator of Thanos said he felt 'violated' when Trump tweeted a video of himself as the Marvel mega-villain

Screenshot of Trump War Room Twitter

The comic book creator of Thanos has called the US President a "pompous fool" after one of his team's Twitter accounts shared a video of the president as the Marvel mega-villain.

Writer and artist Jim Starlin, who created Thanos in 1973, told The Hollywood Reporter he felt violated after seeing Donald Trump use his creation for his latest campaign.

"After my initial feeling of being violated, seeing that pompous fool using my creation to stroke his infantile ego, it finally struck me that the leader of my country and the free world actually enjoys comparing himself to a mass murderer," Starlin said.

The video came hours after House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment against Trump on Tuesday.

The response posted from the Trump War Room account saw him take on the Marvel villain with his head attached to Thanos's body and obliterate a group of Democrats.

It was captioned: "House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want. President Trump's re-election is inevitable."

The original scene Trump parodied comes from 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," when Thanos says "I am inevitable" and snaps his fingers in an attempt to destroy all existing life in the Universe.

thanos 2

"How sick is that? These are sad and strange times we are going through. Fortunately, all things, even national nightmares, eventually come to an end,"Starlin told The Hollywood Reporter.

Trump's pop culture referenced tweet isn't the first to be posted by a politician this week. On Tuesday the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnsion imitated a scene from the Christmas classic "Love Actually" for his Brexit campaign video.

  • Kumail Nanjiani, best known for his comedic roles in "The Big Sick" and "Silicon Valley," will star in Marvel's "The Eternals," which will be released in November 2020.
  • To prepare for his debut in the traditionally action-heavy Marvel Cinematic Universe, Nanjiani has been training for a year to transform into a comic-book hero.
  • He shared the results on Instagram on Monday while acknowledging it would have been impossible if he "didn't have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world."
  • Plenty of celebrities flooded Nanjiani's comments, sharing their shock at the transformation.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

On Monday, Kumail Nanjiani revealed the incredible results of his yearlong journey to get ready for his Marvel debut by posting what he called "thirsty shirtless" photos.

Primarily known as a comedic actor, Nanjiani will play Kingo, a samurai with cosmic powers, in "The Eternals," which will tell the story of Marvel's next big superhero team when it's released in November 2020.

Fans have been noticing Nanjiani's changing physique for a few months now. When he posted in August from Disney's D23 convention, many comments noted how "swole" his arms looked. Another post from April showcased his biceps.

But on Monday, the 41-year-old revealed his full transformation, posting two shirtless photos and quoting "The Dark Knight": "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

I never thought I’d be one of those people who would post a thirsty shirtless, but I’ve worked way too hard for way too long so here we are. You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I found out a year ago I was going to be in Marvel’s Eternals and decided I wanted to transform how I looked. I would not have been able to do this if I didn’t have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world. I’m glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time. So big thanks to @grantrobertsfit who started working with me at the beginning of the year and made me understand true physical pain for months and months. Then, once we started shooting, a massive thanks to @davidhigginslondon and his team (@ellispartridge, @thebeardypt, @tomcheesemanfitness) for training me almost every day and making me strong, limber and injury free. I can almost touch my toes now. (And thank you for forcing me to do cheat meals David.) Matthews Street Catering for their delicious and healthy meals. And finally, the biggest thanks goes to @emilyvgordon for putting up with me complaining and talking about only working out and dieting for the last year. I promise I’ll be interesting again some day. #thirstyshirtless (Photo by @markupson.)

Nanjiani said he worked out with trainers nearly every day while shooting the movie. He made it clear he "would not have been able to do this if I didn't have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world."

"I'm glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time," he continued.

The comments came flooding in. Tan France wrote, "ARE YOU F---ING KIDDING ME? I AM LIVID," while Chelsea Handler jokingly complained, "This is ridiculous. This means anyone can get fit."

If you're worried we're all lusting over a married man, don't worry: Nanjiani's wife of 12 years, Emily Gordon, encouraged fans to "get yourself an eyeful."

Nanjiani said he was blessed to work "with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world" to get in the best shape possible for the action movie.

The actor also gave credit to Grant Roberts, a trainer he started working with in January, and others involved in his fitness journey: David Higgins, a celebrity trainer and nutritionist; Ellis Partridge, a celebrity personal trainer; Gavin Eivers, a trainer and nutritionist; and Tom Cheeseman, a trainer.

Roberts told The Hollywood Reporter that Nanjiani trained about four or five days every week and was sent to film the movie "in peak physical condition, but he's had to maintain that," adding, "I give him kudos for being able to do that, especially when he was working."

Roberts said: "I'm so impressed by him. I can only do so much. He's the one who has to push through, and it's definitely painful and there are sacrifices. Kumail drank the Kool-Aid and was all in. I'm very proud of him."

Formally known for his comedy, which he delivered with a more average build, Nanjiani now sports six-pack abs and muscular arms and shoulders to play the role of Kingo, a samurai with cosmic powers.

Fans and celebrities — including noted strongmen Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Terry Crews, as well as fellow comedians like Judd Apatow — publicly celebrated Nanjiani's hard work by commenting on the social media post.

Even pornography-distributing platform Pornhub changed the photo representing the category "muscular men" to Nanjiani.

But how did he do it? The answer, it appears, is great nutrition, top-notch support, and commitment.

kumail nanjiani

Nanjiani said it took the help of experts, and a full year, to make the change

The Pakistani-American actor was quick to admit that he couldn't have done it alone, and unlike many people trying to get in shape, he had the help of a whole team of professionals funded by the big-budget Hollywood studio.

"I would not have been able to do this if I didn't have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world," Nanjiani wrote in the photo caption. "I'm glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time."

One of his trainers, A-list workout guru Grant Roberts, shared Nanjiani's photo on his own Instagram account with more details about the process.

"The key element before beginning any transformation is establishing a realistic goal," Roberts wrote. He said it that while Nanjiani's transformation required hard work and discipline, it wasn't about the actor "starving" himself or spending "hours upon hours" at the gym.

Instead, according to Roberts, he and the rest of the team helped Nanjiani make lifestyle changes so he could change his body in a healthy and sustainable way.

More specifically, Nanjiani trained four to five days a week at the gym, including twice a day on occasion, for nearly a year, Roberts told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm so impressed by him. I can only do so much. He's the one who has to push through, and it's definitely painful and there are sacrifices," he said.

Getting Hollywood jacked takes a lot of time, and a few tricks

Clear muscle definition comes from a combination of low body fat along with solid time at the gym, ideally doing a combination of resistance training like weightlifting and high-intensity cardio, according to personal trainer Noam Tamir, founder and CEO of TS Fitness. He said this is the strategy Halle Berry likely used when she showed off her own muscular midriff earlier this year

But even more than perfecting your workouts, getting six-pack abs and other well-defined muscles is about eating right, Tamir previously told Insider.

"It's like 90% diet. If you watch your nutrition very, very closely, you can get abs," Tamir said. That means maintaining a calorie deficit (eating less than you burn off) if you're trying to lose body fat, but also getting plenty of protein to continue building and maintaining muscle.

Like Roberts, Tamir said sustainability, not quick fixes, is the best way to get ripped, whether to play a superhero or just feel like one. "It's really important to be realistic," he said. "Body fat reduction is going to happen from good nutrition, discipline, and being super active."
